EXIMO REACHES FINAL STAGE OF EPA APPROVAL

Melbourne, FL – (May 3, 2011) EMS has been notified that its renowned Eximo turf conditioning spray has entered the final approval stage for EPA’s Design for Environment (DfE) program. Since 2009, dozens of EMS formulations have been recognized by the DfE program for their unmatched safety and environmental profile.

EPA’s DfE program seeks to promote the use of products with improved environmental and human health characteristics. Products recognized by the DfE must pass rigorous safety and environmental tests, as well as be proven to function as purported on each product’s label. Every EMS formula submitted to the DfE program has been submitted for direct release product approval consideration and has been deemed by the EPA to have met that criteria, which requires 100% biodegradability in less than 10 days.

EMS began introducing the new Eximo in 2009 to accommodate the strict DfE requirements. The primary active ingredient in Eximo is EMS’ patented acid replacement SynTech which is in full compliance with DfE standards, powering more than 30 DfE approved formulations to date. The changes made to the Eximo formulation involved minor and aesthetic additives such as trace surfactant and colorants. While these former ingredients were completely safe and environmentally friendly they failed to meet the very stringent DfE standards that EMS continues to advocate as a new industry standard.

“EMS is excited to have these products one step closer to joining other EMS formulas recognized by the U.S. EPA,” commented Tim Otto, EMS Vice President. “Like the work we’ve done in oil and gas, construction, food processing and marine industries, EMS is proud to offer turf and agriculture customers safe yet powerful alternatives to dangerous acids.”

Since January 2010 EMS has registered the new Eximo formula with local agencies throughout the United States and overseas. EMS has also submitted Eximo and its sister products Burst Turf and Burst Ag for organic approval with the USDA.
